Trisha Byerley – Fitsok Ambassador

Trisha Byerley

What is your running history?

I ran growing up to clear my head, decompress and have my own thing. I didn't care about competition until I was an adult getting very serious about triathlons and run racing. Now as a personal trainer, gym owner of Mojo Fitness and the creator of RUN RIGHT, a curriculum designed to help train trainers and coaches to better train runners...I have a platform to really influence the running community. I am an All American Triathlete who has competed as a Team USA athlete for a handful of years. I love running and running fast. I wish I had more time in my day to dedicate more time to racing and training, but I definitely make it a priority and feel freedom in running and running well.

What running groups/communities are you involved with?

I am sponsored by Kompetitive Edge, the best triathlon store in Colorado! I am on Team EMC (Elite Multisport Coaching), a competitive Triathlon Club. And I am the creator of RUN RIGHT, a curriculum and program designed to create better runners and teach others to train runners more effectively.

What is your favorite running experience?

I loved when I came to run the TC10 Miler a few years ago and for whatever reason, my friend and I had our start times totally wrong! Instead of starting in the first wave, we barely made it to the last wave's start. I felt awesome! I cruised passed wave 4, 3, 2 and caught up with wave 1. I finished in record time for myself! It was chilly to start, I wore the perfect outfit and enjoyed every moment of cruising past crowds of people and was shocked by my time. Maybe it was a combination of nerves, altitude (coming from Colorado) and the just joy of running...but it was a lot of fun :)

What events are you running/racing in 2016? What are your goals?

My goals this year is to balance out life and racing. To train hard, find races that are partially convenient and challenging. I'm looking at more trail races along with some great triathlons!

What do you talk about when you talk about running?

Freedom in the Form...learning how to run correctly to enjoy the run!

What is your favorite Fitsok sock and why?

The F4 Blackout, I like the thin sleekness of them! Major running accomplishments (races completed, PRs, awards won) I qualified for Boston by running in Steamboat with a friend and going from 10 miles to 20 in one week and doing it again with a friend the next week! I stopped and tapered for 2 weeks and qualified on my first marathon. I loved it! I felt like it was a triathlon, by mile 20...all I had to do was do a 10k and finish it up! I was smiling ear to ear by qualifying with 7:27 min to spare! I loved every minute of it.

If you were a professional baseball player, what would your walk up song be?

"We Will Rock You" by Queen

Do you prefer burritos or burgers?

Burgers- I just started eating red meat about 5 years ago after taking it out of my diet for over 10yrs….I love the burgers!

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Jennifer Aniston, because my husband adores her. So there must be some similarities!

What’s the number one race on your bucket list?

I'd love to race the Alcatraz Triathlon. It's a tough and expensive one! But what a rush to jump into that water and race on tough terrain!

What is your favorite distance to race?

I love 10k's. It's a really tough distance. You ideally want to run your 5k pace for twice as long.

Anything else we (and the world) should know about you?

I really enjoy online coaching, and since I have a trainer's background I get really specific with all aspects of cardio and weight training. It's so fun to work with athletes and see the progress!
