What is your running history?
I played lacrosse in college and ran to stay in shape. After college I found I really enjoyed running and no one hit you while you ran. Some friends told me to sign up for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon lottery, so I did. They didn’t get in the race but I did and I have been hooked ever since.
What running groups/communities are you involved with?
Twin Cities Track Club
TC Running Company
Breakfast Club Running Group
Chaska Running Group
What is your favorite running experience?
My favorite running experience was the first time I qualified for Boston.
After running the Whistlestop marathon I decided that I wanted to try to qualify at the Green Bay marathon. To qualify I would have to take 15 minutes off my PR time.
Everyone told me there was no way I could take 15 minutes off my time. I remember when I got to mile 17 of the Green Bay marathon, all I could think of was the people that said I couldn’t do it and it motivated me to get a qualifying time.
What events are you running/racing in 2016? What are your goals?
Los Angeles Marathon, Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, Twin Cities 1 Mile, Twin Cities 10 mile, Leadville 100 mile (?? I entered the lottery…), Fall Marathon (TBD), Spring Marathon?? (TBD)
What do you talk about when you talk about running?
The people. Running has let me do things and meet people I would have never met if I didn’t start running. I always try to encourage people to run, it doesn’t matter how fast you are. You are faster than the person sitting on the couch.
What is your favorite Fitsok sock and why?
The ISW Isolwool® Trail Cuff. Best sock ever (I would say that even if I wasn’t an ambassador.)
